Pradeep Karla, Ph.D., (Stanford LEAD) has nearly two decades of experience in pharmaceutical drug development and clinical trials. He is also Provost and Professor of the Washington DC ArchAngels Training Institute. In that capacity, Dr. Karla manages the Institute's academic affairs and is responsible for supervising faculty that includes Instructional Directors and Staff. As the Training Institute's Provost, he reports directly to the President, Washington DC ArchAngels and is responsible for the quality of Institute curriculum and performance and integrity of faculty. Dr. Karla is also active as a senior advisor and product reviewer for Washington DC ArchAngels.
Dr. Karla is also a tenured associate professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Howard University, College of Pharmacy. He was awarded a Ph.D. from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and completed the one-year professional leadership certificate program (LEAD) from Stanford University, Graduate School of Business. As a Principal Investigator (PI), Co-Investigator (Co-I), and Collaborator, he has so far contributed to the funding of nearly$18 million in center development, SBIR, research, and teaching technology grants. Dr. Karla is passionate about translational product development and bench-to-bedside transition of products. An active consultant for national and international companies, he consults on clinical trials and market research for product development. Dr. Karla is also involved in the development of multiple nutraceutical products and holds several patents in the area of drug delivery and collaborates with various industries on product development.
Dr. Karla has received multiple research and teaching awards. His research on a drug delivery vehicle for the treatment of glaucoma was cited as one of the eight promising research discoveries by the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) in 2009. He also was one of the two nationwide recipients of the prestigious New Investigator Grant in Pharmaceutics from AACP for 2011-2012. Dr. Karla has received NIH and Industry-funded research grants and was the sole recipient of the Teaching with Technology Award from the Center or Excellence in Teaching, Learning, and Assessment in 2012. His teaching awards include the Distinguished Faculty Award, Professor of the Year, and, in 2017, he was the keynote speaker at the 8th World Congress on Bioavailability and Bioequivalence: Pharmaceutical R & D Summit.
